Original Baptism Favours: Handmade Ideas in Wax and Ceramic

Dobbiaco handmade wax baptism favour by Dolomites Glow, South Tyrol

Choosing baptism favours usually comes down to one question: something guests will actually keep, or something that ends up in a drawer within a week? Handmade favours have a natural edge over mass-produced ones — but not all "handmade" favours are the same, and it's worth understanding the difference before you order.

Wax or ceramic: two different directions

In our studio in Val Gardena we make baptism favours in two materials, each with its own character.

Wax Event Favours are individually cast wax pieces — a delicate shape, like a rocking horse or a heart — scented with one of our four natural fragrance oils. They're light, small enough for every table setting, and the scent is part of the experience from the moment a guest unwraps it.

Ceramic Event Favours are figurines cast from liquid ceramic slip, dried for a minimum of 48 hours, sanded, and hand-painted. They're unscented — made to last, the kind of small object someone keeps on a shelf for years.

What makes a favour "original"

The word gets used a lot, but in practice it means one simple thing: the favour doesn't look like something from any party-supply shop. For us, every ceramic piece is hand-cast in a mold, dried, sanded, and painted individually — no two are exactly alike. It's the same process we use for our Ceramic Pot Candles, the signature product of our studio, applied at a smaller scale for occasions like a baptism.

For wax favours, the originality is in the shape and the fragrance — a hand-cast rocking horse is a different thing from a bag of sugared almonds, and it's meant to be noticed before it's even opened.

How to choose between wax and ceramic

There's no single right answer — it depends on what you want the guest to take home. If the goal is a scent that fills the room and a sensory memory of the day, wax is the natural choice. If you want a small object that stays visible for years — on a shelf, in a cabinet — ceramic lasts longer simply because it isn't consumed the way wax is.

Many families split the difference: half the table in wax favours, half in ceramic, or a mix of both depending on guest count.

Timing and quantity

Because every piece is made by hand, most event favours have a minimum order and a production lead time. Email us at info@dolomites-glow.it with your baptism date and estimated quantity, and we'll confirm scent, finish, and timing before production starts — that's the right moment to ask questions or make changes. Full details are on our Wedding & Baptism Favours page.

The detail that makes the difference

Every favour leaves our studio packaged in branded Dolomites Glow packaging, decorated by hand for each order. It's not an afterthought — it's the last thing a guest sees before opening what's inside, and it's worth matching the care that went into what it contains.
